Anime and Manga: Part 2 The Art

Anime and manga are not like American comics and TV shows. In American comics focus on senseless humor. Manga is like a thriller novel. And anime is like watching an action show with much more depth. Both anime and manga focus a great deal on human interactions and relationships. The most popular kind of manga in the US is called Shonen. Shonen focus is for boys age 10-18. It always has a hero or a group of heros normally around 13 to 17. Then this hero with the help of his friends goes off to fight an evil villain and protect the ones they love. But normally he also has a crush to worry about and a crazy family. The story is so interwoven that you feel as though you have been riding a plot twisting roller coaster.

Manga is also an art, focusing on the relationship between words and text. Manga is also an art style. It a special eye style and very simple lines that are exactly proportioned to create a elegant yet recognizable look. The hair has very few lines at the top of the head and many more lines at the end of the hair creating the illusion of light reflecting off the hair. Manga also is written from right to left as it is in Japan (there are a few exceptions).

Manga and anime are made of complex story lines and intricate relationships that keep you on the edge of your seat. They are epic story telling.

NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS
Skillet's new album “Awake” released yesterday! John Cooper wrote a blog telling his favorite memory from the album recording saying: “Our live violinist, named Jonathan Chu, came to record on a few songs. After he played his parts, he, Korey and Jen were sitting at the lunch table talking about how amazing Lasik eye surgery is… Then someone had the great idea to look it up on YouTube… About 30 seconds later I came back into the room and Jonathan Chu was passed out on the floor and Korey and Jen were freaking out because they thought he was joking! It was NOT a joke. And of course, I started laughing even though it was inappropriate!” More updates and tour dates can be found at Skillet.com.
